A new musical based on the courageous true story of Raquel Liberman.

Historical photograph of Raquel Liberman

Raquel Liberman, a Polish immigrant, arrives in Argentina to seek a better life for herself and her young daughter, only to discover that her husband, who had proceeded her to Buenos Aires, had unexpectedly died. Left vulnerable and without any viable means of support, Raquel is drawn into prostitution by the Zvi Migdal, an international sex-trafficking organization that preyed on poor immigrant women from Eastern Europe.

At the bordello Raquel befriends the women trapped alongside her as well as César Tiempo, an idealistic young poet who falls in love with Raquel and is determined to expose the truth about the Zvi Migdal. After a tempestuous relationship with César, Raquel finally welcomes his love and realizes she must risk everything to bring the Zvi Migdal to justice. With a musical score that features tango and klezmer, Bordello is a story of survival, resistance and love.
